Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters at LACMA

We recently became members of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (http://www.lacma.org/) and went to see the Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters exhibit.

I LOVE creepy, weird shit. But funny enough, I rarely watch horror movies because I can’t handle it and constantly have to fight the compulsion to watch them because I’ll stay awake, terrified, for multiple days. Weeks. After seeing this exhibit, though, and knowing how gorgeous del Toro’s movies tend to be, I may try to watch more of his films. I saw “Pan’s Labyrinth” in the theatre and I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it. In this collection, he also has some original artwork from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark as well as some Disney concept art.

I adored everything about this exhibit but especially a quote by del Toro, which is something I’ve been saying for years and is the main theme of how I live my life: “The point of being over forty is to fulfill the desires you’ve been harboring since you were seven.” I often think, would twelve year old me be happy about the person I am today?

I think yes.
